Whether you’re expat who’s found a new home or a local born-and-bred, we want to hear what, in a global world, distinguishes your home country and why you’re proud of it. Feel free to tell us about a national dish, take us to the capital city, or share a unique cultural/historical contribution.

We’ll be joined by guest judges @nellyvels and @peapookachoo who can’t wait to see your entries. Head to their feeds for inspiration, and follow the steps below to share:

Guidelines:

  1. Post or re-post photos/videos according to your interpretation of the theme between Tuesday, July 4th and 11:59am EST on Sunday, July 9th;*
  2. Tag @passionpassport and #PPHomeCountry in your caption (if in the comments, we may miss it);
  3. Tell us a story with your caption: what is the significance, and how does it relate to the identity of your birth or adopted country; and
  4. Check the sample below and get creative with your entries!

*NOTE: Entries must be posted or re-posted (i.e. you cannot simply ‘tag’ an older photo/video) from a public account during the challenge period. Those posted from private accounts and/or posted outside of the challenge period will NOT be considered eligible for feature.

We’ll announce the winner and honorable mentions Monday, July 10th on our Instagram feed based on the guest judges’ scoring of Quality of ImageQuality of Caption, and Creativity/Interpretation of the Theme.

Passerby in Beirut, Lebanon
Photo by: @kristin.edmundson Beirut, Lebanon

“When I think of Beirut, I think of family and food. I think of my mother-in-law making us treats in her kitchen — the ripe avocados, baba ghanoush, and baklava. I think of the family gathering for dinner at the end of each day and the animated conversation in both Arabic and English. I think how wonderful it is that I can be both American and now, Lebanese.” @passionpassport #PPHomeCountry
