Today we set off on our #PassportExpress (for more, read on here) train adventure with Amtrak across the country, from Washington, DC, to San Francisco! Frankly the most awe-inspiring edifice (or more accurately, mountain) I’ve ever seen, Fushimi Inari is a shrine dedicated to the patron of commerce, with thousands of individual red gates, each donated by a different Japanese business. The gates wind their way up, culminating at a beautiful shrine on the peak — alone worth a trip to Kyoto!
