There is cause for celebration this year, as 2016 marks the 100th year of The National Parks Service in the United States. To commemorate the occasion, we’re excited to team up with Expedia for a very special Instagram Challenge. Immeasurable beauty and adventure awaits within our National Parks, and whether in-person or otherwise, we want to see more: from the geological wonders of Arches to the 300 miles of trails snaking through the Rockies to the white-water rapids of the mighty Colorado River. You can see more about the parks in the upcoming National Parks Adventure film created to celebrate the centennial. And while all 59 parks warrant exploration, we’ll be sending one winner to visit one of our all-time favorites: Glacier National Park!

To enter this week’s challenge, use the hashtag #PPNationalParks and share a photo from a trip you’ve taken to any of America’s National Parks. In your caption, tell us why traveling to these protected areas – some of the greatest natural and historical treasures the USA has to offer – is an important way to get to know America. See terms and conditions for more information.

We’ll be joined by guest judges @brandonexplores and @gregorywoodman, so check their feeds for inspiration and follow the instructions below for your chance to win:

  1. Post a photo/video that fits the theme above and tag #PPNationalParks and @passionpassport in your caption.
  2. Submit as many entries as you like between Monday, February 8 and 11:59pm EST on Saturday, February 13.
  3. Include a 2-5 sentence caption telling us how your entry relates to the theme and why it is personally significant to you.
  4. Stay tuned for a winner to be announced on Sunday, February 14 here on

NOTE: Entries must be posted or reposted from a public account during the challenge period. You cannot simply “tag” an older photo or video. Any submissions posted from private accounts and/or posted outside of the challenge period will not be considered eligible.
