Leaving home to see the world can radically reshape our preconceptions about other people, places, and ways of life. Yet nearly two-thirds of Americans lack the resource they need to embrace those transformative experiences — an international passport.

The Passport Project was created to empower applicants to select a stigmatized destination of their choice and nominate a guest to accompany them — someone who doesn’t have a passport and has never left their home country. Then, on a trip designed in collaboration with the Passion Passport team, the two recipients will have the opportunity to experience a new place and culture, and come away with an understanding of the world we all share.

We believe the only way to truly understand a place is to experience it firsthand. We all come from different places, different backgrounds, and different lives. It’s normal to be apprehensive about the world. The only way to illuminate those anxieties, fears, and worries is to seek the unknown.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Who can apply?”]Anyone over the age of 18 is eligible to apply for the second round of the Passport Project. This program is open to applicants worldwide.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How long is the trip? “]The duration of the trip depends on your intended destination. Our team will help you plan an itinerary, but the trip will be around seven to 10 days.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”When will the trip take place? “]We’ll work with the winners to coordinate schedules and vacation time, but the trip will likely take place in MONTH or MONTH, 2018.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”What if I have a passport and so does my travel partner?”]We encourage you to think about people in your life who do not yet have a passport that could be good nominees. But, under certain circumstances, you can nominate someone who already has a passport. If this is the case, you’ll still need to choose a destination the nominee hasn’t visited and you’ll need to fully explain why this person should accompany you (even though they already have a passport) in your application.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How much is the travel grant? “]The travel grant will be USD 4,000.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”How does the application process work?”]Members of the Passion Passport team will be reviewing the applications. Your application materials will be judged on a 40 point scale, then the top applications will continue to the next round. During the second round of review, several guest judges will join us to help narrow down the applicants. A final decision will be made roughly two weeks after the application closes.[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Are there any places I cannot choose as my destination?”]We’re looking for applications that focus on the perceived notions or misconceptions that the applicant/nominee may have about a certain place or people. That being said, the location of the trip is open and at the discretion of the applicant and nominee. We would encourage applicants to choose a destination that doesn’t currently have an active travel warning from the US Department of State.[/vc_toggle][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_btn title=”Passport Project Home” style=”outline” shape=”round” align=”center” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Ftest.passionpassport.com%2Fpassport-project%2F|||” css=”.vc_custom_1516401313160{padding-top: 48px !important;padding-bottom: 48px !important;}”][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][/vc_column][/vc_row]
