Discovering a place for the first time is one of the many pleasures of travel. We relish turning corners we can’t predict and take in every detail of an ordinary avenue. Now, think about your home ground: what spots might inspire that same thrill of the new for a traveler? How might you see it in a different light, if you weren’t so used to it?

This week, we’re turning the tables a little and asking our community to think not just as travelers, but also as hosts. Our questions trace an itinerary you might take through your hometown — a place that’s very familiar to you — with a guest who’s completely new. Get creative!

We’ll be joined this Thursday, Jan. 21 at 2pm ET by co-hosts who know their home bases inside and out:

Patrick Florian (@mflpatrick): Vienna-based photographer and blogger
