WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

Here’s a question for you: How many friends have you made while sitting in the lobby of a fancy hotel? No, the concierge doesn’t count — he gets paid to be there. Now, how about that dive-y rooftop bar from the last hostel you stayed at? If you can’t name at least one, it’s not making friends that’s your problem, it’s too much time at the rooftop bar…

Hostels are like start-up incubators for new multinational friendships. And after all, that’s what travel is all about — the NEW. We certainly don’t mean to say that traveling with your best friends is a lesser form of travel. We just mean that when you travel with your friends from home, you bring your old life with you on vacation. When you travel on your own, you leave the old you behind and become someone new — whoever you might want that to be. What’s more, solo travel is no longer a vacation, per se, but more of an adventure.

This week we’re teaming up with our friends at Hostelworld to award $1,000 towards any Hostelworld booking to the winner of this week’s Instagram Challenge. To enter the contest, use the hashtag #PPSoloTravel and share a photo that’s reminiscent of your favorite (or least favorite) solo travel moment. In your caption, tell us about why, where, or how you love to travel solo, and how your photo tells that story. (Bonus points if you captured your photo without a selfie-stick).

See terms and conditions for more information.

Lastly, we’ll be joined by guest judges @liolaliola and @ryannealcordwell, so check out their feeds for some inspiration and follow the instructions below for a chance to win:
