Travel is often dominated by stories of the exotic and unfamiliar. But what is peculiar for some is another’s every day. For this week’s Instagram challenge, we want to focus on the quieter day-to-day moments — on the #PPOrdinary!
Maybe it’s the morning commute. Maybe it’s a local reading in a cafe. It’s through the observation of these “ordinary” moments that a foreign, new destination begins to become familiar. What routines have you observed on your travels? We’ll be joined by guest judges @annapurnauna and @insearchofperfect who can’t wait to see your entries. Head to their feeds for inspiration, and follow the steps below to share:
Guidelines:
- Post or re-post photos/videos according to your interpretation of the theme between Tuesday, May 30th and 11:59am EST on Sunday, June 4th;*
- Tag @passionpassport and #PPOrdinary in your caption (if in the comments, we may miss it);
- Tell us a story with your caption, sharing any backstory, interesting details surrounding the circumstance, and/or how it relates to the theme; and
- Check the sample below and get creative with your entries!
*NOTE: Entries must be posted or re-posted (i.e. you cannot simply ‘tag’ an older photo/video) from a public account during the challenge period. Those posted from private accounts and/or posted outside of the challenge period will NOT be considered eligible for feature.
We’ll announce the winner and honorable mentions Monday, June 5th on our Instagram feed based on the guest judges’ scoring of Quality of Image, Quality of Caption, and Creativity/Interpretation of the Theme.

The streets of old Cairo are bustling late into the night. Here, a barber gives a satisfied customer a clean shave. After showing the barber his photo, we joked (mostly in gestures) that it would be my turn next. / @passionpassport #PPOrdinary
