We’re diving into 2017 with a #PPFirstTime Instagram challenge! We want to hear about your travel “firsts” — first time traveling abroad, first time traveling solo, first time trying a foreign dish…you name it. The New Year is all about reflecting on previous goals and setting new ones, so we’re asking: “How did you push your own boundaries this year, and ‘firsts’ are you planning for the future?”

We’re collaborating with guest judges (and gung-ho wanderlusters) @corrine_t and @dawa_lhamo, so head to their feeds for inspiration, and follow the instructions below for a chance to be featured on our Instagram feed:

Instructions:

  1. Post as many photos/videos relating to the theme as you like between Tuesday, December 27th and 11:59pm EST on Saturday, December 31st;
  2. Mention @passionpassport and #PPFirstTime in your caption (if in the comments, we may miss it);
  3. Include a brief write-up (3-5 sentences) in your caption telling us how your entry relates to the theme and any interesting backstory into the moment; and
  4. Stay tuned for the winner and honorable mentions to be announced Monday, January 2nd, 2017, on our Instagram feed based on guest judges’ scoring of Quality of Image, Quality of Caption, and Creativity/Interpretation of the Theme.

*NOTE: Entries must be posted or re-posted from a public account during the challenge period. You cannot simply ‘tag’ an older photo/video. Those posted from private accounts and/or posted outside of the challenge period will NOT be considered eligible.

Growing up in Australia, I loved being on the road and in the sea. My favourite road trips took me along cliff-hugging roads and ended up in secluded beaches where, without fail, my gaze would be on the horizon, looking and dreaming for the world beyond our shores. However, it wasn’t until my first overseas trip to Europe that I truly caught the travel bug. I climbed to the top of and picnic-ed under the Eiffel Tower; tripped and lost myself in winding cobblestoned streets; and discovered the joy of hyggeTravelling had ignited something in me. Overwhelmed, awed and inspired; I no longer wanted consistency. Instead I craved new experiences and adventures. / @passionpassport #PPFirstTime
